THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS if you will! The 2003 Diana Ross Barbie Doll by Bob Mackie! OOAK AS SHES SIGNED BY not only BOB MACKIE but DIANA ROSS ASWELL, 100% authentic. Made in Diana's likeness with a new facial mould that took a few attempts before she finally approved the mould. Based on several of her iconic looks several of which often featured Dolman Sleeved Mackie gowns. She's in mint condition, NRFB and she has very minimal shelf-wear. I'm a fashion designer and my first position right out of college upon graduation was as Bob Mackie's assistant designer! He was one of our senior class mentors at the fashion design/art college I was lucky enough to attend, Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. During the final fitting of my design from his design direction he asked me "If I wanted to be his Assistant Designer when I graduated" Which I didn't have to think about as he knew he was/is one of my idols.

It was a dream come true to say the least. Whilst working as Bobs Assistant Designer we would often work with various celebrities such as Cher, Diana Ross, Diane Carroll, Carol Burnett, Jamie Lee Curtis, Pink and Eva Longoria to name a few for they're show/tour costumes/special events as well as red carpet looks. This is how I obtained the Signed Diana Rosssigned by Both Bob Mackie and Diana Ross in 2003 as that's when her barbie doll was released. The Diana Ross Barbie doll was signed during the period of October 2003 to December 2003.

I know this was the timeframe as Diana asked Bob to design several new costumes for her fourth-coming European tour which began during the first quarter of 2004. With new costumes being designed by Bob and chosen by Diana the multiple fitting process comes next.

During her first fitting which I was present for was when she signed my 2 of my dolls along with Bob(one addressed to myself and my partner see last photo)and the other more VALUABLE doll that's not personalized, just signed by Diana Ross on the front of the box and by Bob Mackie on the back is what you'll be getting should you choose to add this OOAK Diana to your collection. Grab this Diana Ross Barbie by Bob Mackie whilst you can as she's truly a ONE OF A KIND piece as there is not another one like her on earth!

Not only does she have an interesting history/story behind her. BUT it's also very rare to have the Celebrity Barbie the Doll is likened to AND the World Famous Designer of the Doll BOTH SIGN HER! Diana on the front was signed with a Silver Paint Marker and Bob signature on the back of the box was signed with a black slimline Sharpie. He knew very well I collected Barbie's notably his, so every bday/holiday I would always receive a few of his Barbie's from his personal collection, even to this day! The reason I say Bob's personal collection is the fact that he would get 8-10 dolls of every doll he designed as written in his contract.

With the exception of Cher Ringmaster where he only received 2 as did Cher, fun to know right! So out of the 996 of that doll produced you know where 4 ended up! If anyone is interested in other Mackie Barbie's please let me know as I have the entire collection(in some cases 6 or more duplicates of ONE DOLL) which I'm in the process of listing ASAP. Along with some VERY special one of a kind dolls as all of Bob's initial Barbie design prototypes were made in house at his workroom in Studio City, California.

Therefor I have some of them that were given to me!! I used to call Bob my boss now he's my friend and I'll be forever grateful.

I have all the proof that I was Bob Mackie's Assistant Designer items such as. Birthday/Holiday cards given to me, photos of Bob and myself at various events, fittings, fashion show rehearsals, check stubs, autographs, original sketches, Bobs Birthday invitations along with photos, editorial work and more. ALL REASONABLE OFFERS WILL BE CONSIDERED SO GO AHEAD AND MAKE AN OFFER AS IT NEVER HURTS TO ASK. I'm having to sell off several of my dolls due to the recent financial strain that Hurricane Ian has brought upon my family and so many others. No dolls were damaged due to the storm however our family business has significantly slowed down.
